Where Should I Store...
Lettuce

Fridge

(Bagged)

Refrigerator: Follow the expiration date (even if the leaves look fresh), as bacteria can develop.

Lettuce (head)
Refrigerator: 5 days
Tip: Resilient iceberg lettuce can last for 2 weeks in the fridge

Iceberg lettuce and other lettuce should be stored differently:

Iceberg lettuce:
Iceberg lettuce leaves are so tightly wrapped, there isn’t a chance for dirt to get inside. Remove and discard the outer layer of leaves. Rinse the whole head of lettuce, shake it dry and then dry with a paper towel. Wrap the entire lettuce in paper towel, place in a plastic bag and store in the fridge.

All other lettuce:
Fill a sink with cold water and soak the separated leaves. Briefly rinse each piece. If you want to invest in a salad spinner this will help to dry the leaves. Otherwise, pat dry with a paper towel. Then wrap dry paper towel around the lettuce and place in a zipped bag (squeeze all of the air out). Store in the fridge.
