5 Kitchen Hacks for the New Year

With 2017 looming, the New Year’s resolutions are prevalent, and we here at Lark and Larks support and encourage self improvement – especially when it comes to the kitchen and bedroom. You probably have fond memories of your parents telling you that the state of the Kitchen was stressing them out, and hate to admit it but you completely understand where they were coming from. Start 2017 as you mean to go on; with an organised Kitchen – after all, it won’t break the bank. We like to think of it as a new year, new you & new (ish) kitchen.

Replace your Kitchen Lighting

Replacing the lights in your Kitchen will completely change the way the room looks, giving it a crisp and ultra modern look that you wouldn’t necessarily get with a fresh coat of paint. Your kitchen lighting should adapt to natural daylight, and become a supplement when natural daylight is lacking. From kitchen ceiling light, to kitchen cabinet lights and flexi strip lights, each one offers a wide range of functions that will give your kitchen the facelift it deserves. Kitchen lights such as LED lighting, flexi strip lighting and fluorescent strip lighting are all energy efficient, so your electricity bill will be a little cheaper as well!

Sort your Kitchen Storage out

A tidy kitchen equals a tidy mind, and you should start the new year as you mean to go on; with an organised kitchen. Once you’ve gone through everything, sorted out your kitchen storage and given it a home, you’ll feel instantly calmer. Meal times will become easier and you’ll be able to find the coffee much quicker – priorities people! At first, the tupperware cupboard that you’ve managed to avoid opening for so long may seem like it has the same properties as Mary Poppins’ bag, but the end result will be worth it. Sort your herbs out and get a spice rack (if you’re feeling extra frisky, you could alphabetise those spices). Install some kitchen storage carousels for your pots and pans, get some pull out kitchen units, a larder unit and/or a pantry unit. When you’ve managed to make a cup of tea without looking in three different cupboards to find the tea strainer, you’ll thank us.

Change Those Kitchen Cupboard Doors

Replacing something as simple as your kitchen cupboard doors will revolutionise the appearance of your kitchen. Changing your kitchen cabinet doors is a cost effective way to spruce it up, and can really change the aesthetics of the room. It also gives you the opportunity to try something new and get a little creative, as they are replaceable. If you love shiny and new then you could choose high gloss kitchen doors or lacquered painted doors. If you want to give your kitchen a classic but timeless look, then try some kitchen cupboard doors with a  natural wooden finish.

Replace Your Kitchen Cupboard Handles

Similarly to kitchen cabinet doors, replacing your kitchen cupboard handles will give your kitchen a modern and fresh finish. Replacement kitchen handles is a necessity the ones in your kitchen have become worn and are falling off of the kitchen cupboards and drawers. Cabinet and drawer handles are really easy to replace, and with so many styles there is something for everyone. You could have a traditional wooden finish, shiny chrome and so much more!

Get some Kitchen Accessories

Make your Kitchen a room you actually want to be in. Buy those bar stools you’ve had your eye on. Get some new hinges for your cupboards. Replace that old kettle full of limescale and buy a matching bread bin. Small changes can make a big difference, and they won’t break the bank. New Kitchen accessories are a great way to give your Kitchen a breath of life, and no one’s ever felt sad after buying fun kitchen accessories….
