Measuring up your space is the first step when planning for a new kitchen, as your measurements will form the foundation of your design. This simple guide covers how to measure your kitchen in just a few easy steps. Once you have your measurements and an idea of the kitchen style you are looking and book a design consultation with our kitchen experts.

Start by making a sketch of your kitchen layout on grid paper. Draw a rough outline - this doesn’t need to be perfect and should simply detail the rough shape and scale of your kitchen.
It may be helpful at this stage to quickly measure the main walls and decide upon a scale for your drawing so you can keep things relatively accurate (but don’t worry about being 100% precise at this stage).
Next, mark any fixed details on your drawing that you’ll need to design your kitchen around, such as:
Next create a simple sketch of each wall on your graph paper. You can label the walls A, B, C, D to relate to the top down drawing.
As with your top down diagram you will want to detail any windows, electrical points, cooker points, radiators, vents, extractor fans along with anything else that needs to be worked around in the kitchen.
Using a tape measure, start measuring your kitchen and note down the measurements in mm.
Now add these measurements to your drawings.
Take supporting photos of any areas you feel are a little more complicated or you have not represented so well on your diagrams.
The next step is to contact our kitchen design consultants and our experts can show you how to get your dream kitchen for less.
